Dr. LaSala completed a Master of Science in Nursing Administration at Wagner College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing at Wagner College, and a PhD in Nursing at Adelphi University. The title of her dissertation is The Lived Experience of Pregnant Adolescents Living in a Group Home.   Dr. LaSala’s program of scholarship is focused on adolescent pregnancy.  As faculty and community health nurse, her interest lies with improving parenting programs for adolescent mothers. She has been honored with the Health Care Hero Award from the Long Island Business News and the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council: Nurse Excellence Award 2014.  Dr. LaSala was invited as the Keynote speaker at Nassau Community College’s Graduation Ceremony in 2014. The presentation was entitled “Life-long Learning and the Commitment to Nursing Excellence”. Dr. LaSala has presented a podium presentation at the AACN Baccalaureate Education Conference entitled “Constructing a Paradigm for Success: Population Health” and presented a poster presentation at the ENRS in 2016 and 2018 entitled “The Lived Experience of Pregnant Adolescents Living in a Group Home. Dr. LaSala is a member and Counselor of Sigma Theta Tau, Kappa Gamma and a member of the Association of Community Health Nursing Educators (ACHNE). Dr. LaSala was the health consultant/ home care nurse at the Regina Residence Home for Adolescent Mothers from 2009-2017.
