Licensing Disclosures

The programs at Stony Brook University School of Nursing are registered by the New York State Education Department and thus meet the educational requirements for licensure/certification for New York State. Through a reasonable faith effort and for the purpose of complying with Federal Regulations’ amendment (CFR 668) effective July 1, 2024, we have determined that the programs at Stony Brook University School of Nursing meet the educational requirements for licensure/certification in New York.

It is important to note that Stony Brook University School of Nursing is not the licensure authority in the United States and cannot assess whether an individual candidate will be issued a license in states outside of New York. Instead, it is incumbent on each individual candidate to contact the licensure/certification authority in the applicable state for any further guidance on the requirements for licensure/certification requirements and application processes. Federal regulations require institutions delivering courses by distance education to provide students or prospective students with contact information for filing complaints with the state approval or licensing entity. For students from State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) participating states, please refer to the Grievance Resolution section at Online Education https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/online-education/support/.
