Students, please self-nominate for one or more of these awards.  However, please be sure to review the eligibility criteria carefully prior to submitting your self-nomination.

Self-nominations are due by 5pm on Monday, October 16th.  

Please note: Not all awards are represented here; several awards are chosen by faculty and are not open to self-nomination.

David and Gloria Klapisch Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate program and good academic achievement.  Special consideration given to students interested in the study of dementia.

Doretta Dick Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate program. This award is given out for excellence in professional writing, writing submission required.

Ellen Weisenberg Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in one of the following Graduate programs: Adult-Gero NP Program, Family NP Program or Pediatric NP Program. Other criteria: Demonstrated financial need, GPA 3.0 or higher. Preference given to a student who desires to work with individuals with physical, behavioral and/or developmental disabilities.

Francis G. Coletti Memorial Award 

Eligibility: Currently enrolled part-time or full-time in any of our Master's or Doctoral Programs, demonstrates “just do it” spirit toward  patient advocacy, minimum GPA 3.0, good academic standing, recent evidence of advanced training in geriatric nursing with a focus on advocating for better patient outcomes through improved interprofessional communication.

Gene Mundie Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently full time (min 6 credits) doctoral level study (PhD or DNP).

George E. Xippolitos Memorial Award

Eligibility: Doctoral level study (PhD or DNP). Provide support for doctoral research with an emphasis in cardiac nursing including but not limited to research, travel, awards and professional development.

Julie O. Wells Memorial Education Foundation Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled as a School of Nursing student who is pursuing a degree in professional nursing.

Kappa Gamma Nursing Scholarship 

Eligibility: Currently full time in an Undergraduate or Graduate Program and in good academic standing. For Graduate programs, full-time is considered 6 or more credits.

Marie Frey Memorial Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in the Midwifery Program. Demonstrates outstanding clinical skills. This candidate believes that birth is a profound event that has the capacity to empower women to make positive changes for themselves and their families, forever enriching their lives.

Mary G. Bourguignon Memorial Award 

Eligibility: Currently full time (min 6 credits) in the Midwifery Program; special consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need and/or are from an ethnically diverse background.

Eligibility: Full time undergraduate student in Undergraduate or Graduate Programs, demonstrated financial need, minimum GPA of 3.25, excellence in Community and/or University service

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), full-time, demonstrated financial need and good academic standing.

Diane Ducy Hitchings-Tiernan ’72 RN Baccalaureate Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled as a full-time student in the School of Nursing. Special consideration given to students who previously graduated from a 2 year RN program, and are entering the RN-BP Undergraduate program. Otherwise, choose a full-time student from another undergraduate nursing program (ABP or BBP). Special consideration is also given to a student who has an interest in and was involved with community service and display leadership capabilities. The chosen student must show financial need, and have a current GPA of at least a 2.8.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), current GPA 3.8 or higher; special consideration given to first year nursing students in the ABP or BBP program influenced by a family member to become a nurse.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), completed one semester in good academic standing and demonstrated financial need.

Hugh J.B. Cassidy Memorial Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), must be a veteran or a family member of a veteran.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), first year of program, min GPA 3.0, financial need, strong commitment to nursing profession.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full time in an Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), good academic standing. Preference given to students interested in Pediatric nursing.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in the Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), current GPA 3.0 or higher; special consideration given to a male student who demonstrates a passion for perioperative nursing or nursing informatics.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in the Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), financial need, interest in practicing in the field of Pediatric nursing.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time as a BBP student, current GPA is 2.5 or higher, demonstrated financial need.

Stelling Family Endowed Scholarship in Nursing

Eligibility: Full time undergraduate student in ABP, BBP or RNBP program, demonstrated financial need, minimum GPA of 3.3. Preference given to a student who is in the first year of their program and demonstrates financial need.
