Dr. Wellins joined the Stony Brook School of Nursing faculty in the Advanced Graduate Nursing Education Program in 2015.

Dr. Wellins completed her DNP degree in 2014 at Stony Brook University. Her doctoral project investigated the effect of education on adherence to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure in adults with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Prior to joining the faculty at Stony Brook, Dr. Wellins worked full time for more than three years in primary care as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in Sag Harbor, New York.

In 2014, she became increasingly involved in tick borne diseases in her clinical practice due to its high prevalence on the East End of Long Island. She is currently a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of the Stonybrook Southampton Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center. She is involved in tick borne disease education, treatment and prevention to the community and resource to local health care professionals. Dr. Wellins conducts community and professional educational programs on Tick-Borne Diseases.

Dr. Wellins has volunteered for numerous medical missions to Zambia, Honduras, and Dominican Republic. Anna-Marie has had an extensive work experience in various roles in education, critical care and leadership.

Impact of OSA Education on CPAP Adherence in Adults: Pilot Study 5/2014
Lyme Disease- Participating as Researcher/Principal Investigator in a multi-year Rutgers University funded study to develop enhanced sensitive Lyme disease blood test.  Responsibilities include consenting patients, collection of blood samples and skin biopsies. Blood samples shared with SUNY Stony Brook for research.  Credentialed as Medical Staff at Rockefeller University.
