Dr. Corallo is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Graduate Studies Department. She is a board-certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner who brings over thirty five years of nursing experience to her practice. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and her Masters of Science as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has a Masters of Science in Health Administration from St. Josephs College in Patchogue, New York. Her experience includes bedside nursing, nursing education, nursing administration, advance practice and nursing academia all within the Maternal Child Health specialty. Ms. Corallo has worked in both tertiary and community care environments and has a well-rounded perspective of the many facets of healthcare delivery.
Excellence in nursing is the focus of Ms. Corallo’s professional life. In the role of Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, she combines her knowledge and experience to provide quality patient care to the critically ill neonate while fostering relationships with family and caregivers. She enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the advanced practice role with student nurse practitioners as a clinical preceptor and mentor. Her years of nursing experience has brought her to the height of professional fulfillment as a Clinical Assistant Professor where she at the forefront of educating future nurse practitioners. As a distance learner herself, she believes the key to learning is active engagement with the student and promoting collegiate relationships between students that build upon their shared experiences. Her research passion is in the area of human milk feedings and its impact on health outcomes of the high risk infant. Her published research on the topic revealed the valuable impact of lactation support on breastfeeding outcomes of all neonates especially the very low birth weight infant.
