Dr. Ann-Margaret Navarra, Associate Dean for Nursing Research and Innovation at Stony Brook University School of Nursing, has been selected as one of the first ten innovators for the Nursing Science Incubator for Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Solutions (N-SISS) Fellowship at the Institute for Policy Solutions (IPS) at Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. This highly competitive fellowship recognizes her outstanding qualifications, innovative research, and commitment to addressing healthcare inequities in the U.S. through the lens of SDOH. Dr. Navarra, a leader in nursing science, has a research focus on HIV/AIDS, pediatrics, chronic disease, and underserved populations. In the 1990s, she was a trailblazer in advanced practice pediatric nursing, spearheading care initiatives for youth living with HIV/AIDS. Her early work in this field became the foundation for her significant contributions to HIV behavioral sciences and health equity. As part of the N-SISS Fellowship, Navarra will join a distinguished cohort of nurse scientists and interdisciplinary researchers dedicated to assessing and addressing social determinants of health. The three-year program will serve as an incubator for innovative solutions, with participants engaging in virtual and on-campus courses, applied research training, and individualized mentoring. |
