Breakthrough to Nursing strives to grow by continuing to promote a positive image of nursing to individuals in high-need, low-income areas and to students currently attending Stony Brook University. Breakthrough to Nursing will not only help mentor, teach, and recruit students who wish to pursue careers in nursing, but will also help encourage every student to take each step towards this rewarding profession with confidence.

The clothing committee helps the class representatives organize any clothing fundraisers that occur during the school year. Responsibilities include assisting or giving input during the ordering process, sorting and distributing clothing, and basic usage of spreadsheets and emails.

Once you join SBSNA, you are part of the SBSNA family for life! We could not be the organization we are without every one of our members. Here at the Communications Committee, we cover four major outlets: the biannual SBSNA Newsletter, the SBSNA website, all SBSNA social media outlets, and video/picture editing for SBSNA/SON-related affairs.

Become an important contribution to the health and well‐being of our diverse community and promote the image of nursing. Our mission is to impact our people from all walks of life and motivate our members to serve the community and freely give back while giving students an opportunity to utilize their knowledge and skills. We will achieve this by working with local shelters and nonprofit organizations to aid those in need.

The fundraising committee is comprised of SBSNA members who plan, organize, and execute fundraisers throughout the semester and academic year. These fundraisers are designed to connect the undergraduate nursing classes and promote nursing within the community. All of our funds go back and benefit our members; they help to forge engaging events, fund Lunch & Learns, and much more!

The Membership Committee is dedicated to keeping track of SBSNA members' points throughout the semester. Additionally, the committee designs and sends weekly SBSNA email blasts to all members. The email blasts provide informative updates regarding all SBSNA events, meetings, and more.

The Policy and Education committee is dedicated to helping improve healthcare for patients by collaboratively working on a resolution with all of its committee members to present at the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Annual Convention every year. The goal of this resolution is to help shed light on important healthcare issues and to get NSNA to adopt the policy. This committee is also responsible for planning our "Lunch and Learn" presentations with influential speakers related to nursing. Check out this year's resolution for NSNA below!
