Tara Hartwell, MS, RN, CMSRN is a Clinical Instructor at Stony Brook University’s School of Nursing. Professor Hartwell completed her Master of Science in Nursing Education at Stony Brook University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Farmingdale State College, and is currently working on her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Educational Leadership at American Sentinel Pace University. Professor Hartwell began her teaching career in 2011 as a Designated Education Unit Clinical instructor for Stony Brook University’s School of Nursing, and in 2015 began working as an adjunct professor for the school in the simulation lab and as a clinical instructor. Professor Hartwell recently joined the faculty full time at Stony Brook in 2021 as a Clinical Instructor. She currently teaches in the Undergraduate Studies department in both the live and online class environments. Professor Hartwell’s focus of research encompasses active learning strategies, retention of information, and clinical judgment in undergraduate nursing students.
