One of 12 fellows selected from across the State University of New York (SUNY) system, Swan and her colleagues are tasked with advancing simulation-based education for SUNY’s nursing licensure programs.

“I am honored to be selected for this fellowship, which will broaden and enhance my practice as a simulation educator,” said Swan.

“I look forward to collaborating with dedicated simulation faculty across the state to advance clinical education and drive innovation across our campus and the broader SUNY system,” she added.

Launched by SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. in 2024, this fellowship is part of a statewide initiative to enhance nursing education through simulation-based learning. Fellows contribute to the SUNY-wide Simulation Shared Resource Library, advancing healthcare education in New York.

"SUNY is at the forefront of utilizing innovative, simulation-based models to help train the next generation of New York State’s healthcare workforce," said Chancellor King. "The SUNY Nursing Simulation Fellowship has been instrumental in building SUNY’s simulation materials that provide our students with hands-on training opportunities.”

Swan follows in the footsteps of SON Director of Simulation Education Debra Giugliano, RN, PhD, CPNP, CPON, who was a two-year fellow included in the program’s first two cohorts in 2024 and 2025.
