Launched in 2014, the program utilizes a competency-based education model to support “early- and mid-career NP faculty in developing the leadership skills necessary to thrive in academic, clinical, community, and policy environments.”
Selected participants attend and participate in learning sessions over 12 months that promote the program’s five core domains: Lead Self, Engage Others, Achieve Results, Develop Coalitions, and Systems Transformation.
“I am honored to be selected for the NONPF Faculty Leadership Mentoring Program,” said Dr. Makhoulian. “This opportunity will further strengthen my leadership development as a nurse practitioner educator and program director, and support my ongoing commitment to advancing high-quality, innovative nurse practitioner education and workforce development.”
Dr. Makhoulian is a clinical instructor and the family nurse practitioner (FNP) program director at the SON, overseeing the Master of Science and advanced certificate FNP programs. She is also a nurse practitioner at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY, specializing in adult medicine and pediatric primary care.
