Stony Brook University School of Nursing is committed to helping active duty military members and veterans pursue a career in nursing. The coordinator of the Undergraduate Veterans Nursing Program is Dr. Kenneth Faulkner who can be contacted at Kenneth.faulkner@stonybrook.edu

We accept a limited number of active duty military applicants into our Basic Baccalaureate Program each fall who plan to use the AMEDD Enlisted Commissioning Program (AECP) or something similar to fund their education. If you are active duty and plan to use a program such as this, please contact Dr. Faulkner to indicate your interest. He will provide guidance on where to submit your transcripts for review to see if you meet minimum requirements. Dr. Faulkner also will advise you on when to submit your official application to the program. These slots are usually designated over a year in advance, so if you are interested in this option, please contact Dr. Faulkner well in advance for consideration.

If you are a veteran of the military, you are eligible to apply for both the accelerated (1 year) and basic baccalaureate (2 year) program along with other applicants. All application requirements and deadlines are the same as those for non-military students and can be found here: https://nursing.stonybrookmedicine.edu/academic  Please contact Dr. Faulkner with any questions you have.
