Captain Paul Willms and Family

Paul Willms, Undergraduate Class of 2012 and presently enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program, has been promoted to Captain in the US Army.  He is presently assigned at West Point (Keller Army Hospital). 

Cpt. Willms enlisted in the Army in 2003. While stationed in Hawaii with the 25th Infantry Division, he deployed twice as a combat medic. He served in both Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, 2004-2005, and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, 2006-2007. After his second deployment, Cpt. Willms was stationed in San Antonio, Texas, at Brook Army Medical Center where he was promoted to Sergeant First Class. In 2010 he was accepted into Stony Brook's baccalaureate nursing program and graduated in 2012 as a registered nurse. After completing his degree, Cpt. Willms was commissioned in the Army as a Second Lieutenant in October 2012.  His first assignment as an RN was in Bethesda, Maryland, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he primarily cared for Wounded Warriors. Cpt. Willms is currently stationed at Keller Army Community Hospital at West Point, NY in the emergency room. On October 21, he was promoted to Captain. Cpt. Willms is continuing his education in nursing, while still fulfilling his duties as a full-time soldier.
