Research Proposal Guidelines

Stony Brook University School of Nursing (SBUSON) Research and Scholarship Committee is a standing committee of the School of Nursing charged with supporting evidence-generating or evidence-supporting activities within the SBUSON and its communities of interest. The Research and Scholarship Committee is available to assist students, faculty, and other scholars to conduct research, quality improvement projects, or other scholarly projects. To propose a research study or quality improvement project, please follow the link below and complete all portions of the form. You will be asked to provide your name, contact information, and affiliation, and you will be asked to upload your proposal. Proposals must not exceed 5 pages in length (excluding references) and should include the following information :

• Project title

• Background and significance (not to exceed 1 page)

• Hypothesis or research question

• Research design

• Description of desired sample

• Sample recruitment

• Research methods

• List of instruments including reliability/validity information

• Data analysis plan

• Burden to subjects

• School of Nursing resources necessary to support project

• Anticipated duration of study

• Copies of Instruments (survey, questionnaire, etc.) to be used in this study

• Copies of consent form

• IRB approval

The SBUSON Research and Scholarship Committee will review the request and contact the requestor within 4-6 weeks of submission.
