SON Staff Volunteer for a Night of Shining Stars

SON Staff Prom Volunteers
It was smiles all around on June 11 when more than 50 pediatric patients and their guests walked the red carpet on a star-studded prom night at Stony Brook Children's Hospital

Every teen looks forward to the momentous occasion of prom night, but for kids who struggle with chronic or terminal illnesses, prom may not seem possible. Thanks to many volunteers and dedicated hospital and School of Nursing staffers, the first Stony Brook Children's Prom gave pediatric patients the opportunity to feel like every other teen -- to party with their peers, dance the night away and experience this important milestone. And for one night, to forget about all of their medical challenges.

See the shining stars enjoying their special evening in a video and photo album.
