SBSON Awards

The 2020 SBSON Awards Ceremony will be held on:

Thursday, April 30th

5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Location: Charles B. Wang Center

 

This awards ceremony will celebrate the many accomplishments of our talented students.  


Students, please self-nominate for one or more of these awards.  However, please be sure to review the eligibility criteria carefully prior to submitting your self-nomination.



Self-nominations are due by 5pm on Thursday, December 19th.  




Please note: Not all awards are represented on this site; several awards are chosen by faculty and are not amenable to self-nomination.


Winning recipients will be notified via email by the March 15th

 



GRADUATE STUDENT AWARDS


Gene Mundie Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently full time (min 6 credits) doctoral level study (PhD or DNP).

George E. Xippolitos Memorial Award

Eligibility: Doctoral level study (PhD or DNP). Provide support for doctoral research with an emphasis in cardiac nursing including but not limited to research, travel, awards and professional development

Kappa Gamma Nursing Scholarship 

Eligibility: Currently full time (min 6 credits) in Undergraduate or Graduate Program and in good academic standing.

Marie Frey Memorial Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in the Midwifery Program.

Mary G. Bourguignon Memorial Award 

Eligibility: Currently full time (min 6 credits) in the Midwifery Program; special consideration may be given to candidates who demonstrate financial need and/or are from an ethnically diverse background.

School of Nursing Alumni Board Award

Eligibility: Full time, financial need, minimum GPA of 3.25, excellence in Community and/or University Service

David Douglas Hunter Memorial Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), demonstrated financial need and high academic achievement.  Special consideration given to veterans or family of a veteran.

Diane Ducy Hitchings-Tiernan ’72 RN Baccalaureate Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), current GPA 2.8 or higher; special consideration given to RN BP students, demonstrated financial need and/or involvement in community service and leadership capabilities.

Frances Bisignano Scholarship Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), current GPA 3.8 or higher; special consideration given to first year nursing student in ABP or BBP program influenced by a family member to become a nurse.

Hilda R Maier Scholarship Endowment

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), completed one semester in good academic standing and demonstrated financial need.

Hugh J.B. Cassidy Memorial Award

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), must be a veteran or a family member of a veteran.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), first year of program, min GPA 3.0, financial need, strong commitment to nursing profession

Joan Sefchick Mazaurczak Legacy Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), full time enrollment, good academic standing. Preference given to students interested in Pediatric nursing.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled in RN-BP Undergraduate program, high academic achievement and demonstrated community service.

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time in the Undergraduate program (ABP, BBP or RN-BP), current GPA 3.0 or higher; special consideration given to male student who demonstrates a passion for peri-operative nursing, emergency medicine or nursing informatics.

Eligibility: Awarded to a BBP Senior who demonstrates the many wonderful qualities that made Matt our beloved colleague; understated, humble, kind hearted, generous and giving of oneself, thoughtful, good-natured, and quick witted.

Ora James Bouey Scholarship

Eligibility: Currently enrolled full-time as a BBP student, current GPA is 2.5 or higher, demonstrated financial need.
